How does it work?
The workings of the Program of Inclusion through Music and the Arts - PRIMA
PRIMA is distributed in music centers located in underserved areas of great social concern in Paraíba. Centers are located in the State's Public School system. Through partnerships with municipalities, NGOs and other institutions with similar objectives, PRIMA allows the existence of music centers also in Municipal Schools, Associations and even historic facilities such as the Fortress of Santa Catarina in Cabedelo. For a list of all current PRIMA Music Centers, please go to the page "Music Centers" above.
Each music center offers students the opportunity to learn orchestral instruments and participate in groups ranging from youth and children's orchestras to bands and choirs, including adult choirs.
Once fully in operation and boasting instrumental or choral ensembles, music centers perform at various localities, government functions, and at each center in monthly concerts. Whenever possible, centers work together, creating greater interaction among underserved communities.
